CFRC 101.9 FM's Airwave YGK Artist Residencies program feature performances by and interviews with local musicians, bands, and DJs. Beginning in early winter 2024, these artists joined CFRC in our studios. DJs, turntablists and experimental sound artists conducted specialized workshops in their electronic crafts for campus and community participants and also performed live sets on the air accompanied by an artist talkback. Musicians and bands also joined us at the station, undertaking 2-3 day residencies to create new music in our studios, undertaking an artist interview, and performing their newly created songs live on the air. This podcast series features live performance recordings and interviews with the artists who have participated in our Airwave YGK programming. The People's History Podcast (PHP)​ aims to recognize and preserve the important roles that Kingstonians and Queen's students have played in social movements throughout the years. Live and Alive is an audio documentary produced through the Robert H. Black Residency programme by first-year undergraduate student Sam Kaiser in collaboration with CFRC and the Department of Film and Media. It focuses on live music in Kingston, investigating how such a cultivated live music scene came about. Highlighting Homegrown Live Music Festival and Joe's MILL, this audio documentary focuses on opportunities for live musicians, as well as the ways they give back to the community. Through interviews with Tyler Flynn, Chris Morris, and Tom Stewart, learn about the history of Kingston's music scene, and the many ways that it continues to grow and expand.
