Bei 'Wissen macht Leute' dreht sich alles rund ums Thema Citizen Science. Citizen Science beschreibt die aktive Beteiligung von Bürger*innen in wissenschaftlichen Forschungsprozessen. Jede Sendung bringt Hörer*innen dem Thema durch Interviews mit Wissenschaftler*innen, Citizen Scientists (also Bürger*innen, die bei wissenschaftlichen Projekten mitmachen) oder (politischen) Entscheidungsträger*innen näher. Es werden sowohl natur-, als auch sozial- und geisteswissenschaftliche Projekte und deren Bezug zu unserer Gesellschaft diskutiert - damit wollen wir die Vielfalt an Projekten und Aktivitäten im Bereich Citizen Science im deutschsprachigen Raum abbilden. Durch persönliche Geschichten erkunden wir den Weg der Wissenschaftler*innen und Citizen Scientists in die Forschung, um die Wissenschaft aus dem Elfenbeinturm herauszuholen und greifbarer zu machen. Mit 'Wissen macht Leute' möchten wir das Thema Citizen Science bekannter machen und Interesse daran wecken. Wir wollen die Vielfältigkeit von Citizen Science darstellen und Interessierte dazu einladen, sich selbst in Citizen Science auszuprobieren. 'Wissen macht Leute' möchte also eine Brücke zwischen Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft schlagen und die Hörer*innen dazu ermutigen, sich in Forschungsprozesse einzubringen. Durch Citizen Science kann nämlich nicht nur die Wissenschaft, sondern auch die Gesellschaft von allen mitgestaltet werden. The Constructing Scientific Communities Project explores citizen science in the 19th and 21st centuries. It brings together historical and literary research in the nineteenth century with contemporary scientific practice, looking at the ways in which patterns of popular communication and engagement in nineteenth-century science can offer models for current practice. The project is based at the Universities of Oxford and Leicester, in partnership with three significant scientific institutions: the Natural History Museum; the Hunterian Museum at the Royal College of Surgeons, and the Royal Society. We look at innovative ways of breaking through the public/professional divide. Drawing on historical research, the project works to develop new tools to enable better systems of exchange between professional science, and this growing army of volunteers. more
