After retiring from public service, Mike joined the Environmental Systems Research Institute (Esri) , where he spent years consulting with police agencies around the globe on intelligence gathering, emergency communications, and major event management . In 2024, he retired again, this time to focus full-time on Profiling Evil and its growing community of true crime investigators, students, and enthusiasts. Mike is an internationally recognized speaker, trainer, and adjunct professor , as well as a visiting scholar at multiple universities.
